STAND UP FOR SOMETHING™

  • Di-Namic Records’ STAND UP FOR SOMETHING™ resonates with groups fighting injustice and has become a protest anthem performed live for several causes, including the #MeToo movement, the Black Lives Matter movement, gun violence prevention, and immigration rights awareness

  • STAND UP FOR SOMETHING™, written by Diane Warren and rapper Common, is a rallying cry -- a call to action for political activism on a grassroots level

  • STAND UP FOR SOMETHING™ debuted as a lead single from the soundtrack album of 2017 film Marshall, and received a nomination for Best Original Song at the 90th Academy Awards. Singer Andra Day and Common invited 10 political activists to join them on the Oscar stage during their live performance.  The group included Tarana Burke, founder of the #MeToo movement; Patrisse Cullors, queer activist and co-founder of the Black Lives Matter movement; and Alice Brown Otter, the 14-year-old citizen of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe who protested the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline

  • Andra Day and Common performed the song at the 2018 CMT Artists of the Year ceremony alongside Little Big Town, Lee Ann Womack and Danielle Bradbery.  It was nominated for CMT Performance of the Year at the 2018 CMT Music Awards
